San Juan, Puerto Rico –d parques, Doral Bank’s program that focuses on strengthening communities of low or moderate income through reforestation efforts, has officially began this year’s journey with the planting of gardens and trees needed for natural shade, all in the municipality of Barceloneta.
With allies like the Natural Resources Department (DRNA for it’s initials in Spanish), Telemundo and Primera Hora, Doral Bank installed various garden areas and planted many native trees that will be of enjoyment to the residents of various elderly homes that are nearby. The families that live in the surrounding communities will also benefit of this public space thanks to this program.
“Doral’s initiative has real and positive impact. 85 trees were plantes in Barceloneta and this is only the beginning for this year. We are happy to have this institution as allies for a cause such as this one,” said Javier Pagán, Regional Director of the DRNA.
Doral’s environmental program has been reforesting and embellishing public community spaces for 5 years and this year they seek to impact municipalities that have not been visited in past years.
“Parks are a place for unity, community and family. Reforesting and enhancing the qualities of a park help fortify any community. With our alliances, we provide tools that help impulse education and the enjoyment of families in spaces like these,” said Lucienne Gigante, EVP of Marketing and Community of Doral Bank.
Ever since its beginning, dparques has reforested 19 parks in communities around the island. Over a million people have been educated through their environmental conservation seminars and financial education workshops. This program seeks to continue strengthening communities in need through the many efforts that are possible with its allies.
Dparques is one of the many community initiatives that Doral has. The institution also has programs like: Mujeres d Éxito, which promotes the personal and professional development of women in Puerto Rico; dmuseo, which promotes art and free education for the community; Conocimiento Efectivo, which provides financial education through seminars and workshops around the island and dhogares, which helps families keep their home.
